about

"On Christmas" is my story of looking back to my favorite memories over the Holidays where I grew up in California. It can be a hard time for many of us missing people who are no longer here to celebrate. Or not having the same traditions or surroundings as before.

It's a mixed gift bag of gratitude & loss. Take a trip down nostalgia lane with me as you dive in to your own home videos that replay in your head. In memory of my parents Bob & Sharon Narae Estrada.

lyrics

"On Christmas"

VERSE
Never forget
The smell of Folgers
Mixed with cigarette smoke
Funny what you miss when you're older
Grey robe and Uggs
Vintage coffee mugs
Listening to those East Bay storms
In my yellow footy pajamas keeping warm

Green and gold wrapping just like the year before
In sharpie wrote my name
Funny that Mom and Santa's writing look just the same
She would hit record on that video cam
Trying to capture my smile with a quick zoom in
Lite-Brite and Barbies
An Easy Bake Oven
Making a cookie in a tin can

CHORUS
It don't feel like Christmas Day
Can't even watch Rudolph play those reindeer games
Cause it reminds me of a time we hung up lights from 1975
And my little heart still believed reindeer could fly
So I'll deck the halls with boughs of holly
But forgive me if I don't wanna be jolly
Cause I can't ignore
They're not here like before
On Christmas

VERSE
All they wanted was to give me the world
With every present she'd say
What you got under that tree squirrel?
Let me see
Sinatra was playing on a compact disc
Santa brought everything on my list
Sega Genesis, My Little Pony Pegasus
Luckiest kid there ever was or is

(spoken VHS clips)
Look what I got!
Raihanna, I didn't get any kisses today. Oh thank you so much.
Twinkle, Twinkle, little star, how I wonder where you are.
Rudolph the red nose reindeer, you'll go down in history!

In my heart, I'll always be
That little kid from 5098 Hutton Street
